The Tornado
January 2026

I recently visited the Fenix Migration Museum in Rotterdam's Katendrecht district. It focuses on the theme of migration and shows how people are on the move worldwide, both historically and today. The focal point of the Fenix Museum is the Tornado, a double-turning staircase designed by architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects. The staircase features unexpected twists and turns, offering ever-new perspectives and symbolizing the migrant.

A hungry blackbird
January 2026

There was a lot of snow in the first week of January. This made for beautiful winter scenes, but it was a tough time for the birds. This blackbird certainly appreciated a jar of peanut butter.

Winter wonderland in Ermelo!

Very surprisingly, in the first week of January, there was a lot of snow. Of course, I had to capture that with my camera. And the light was so beautiful to see! It was amazing!
I took photos on the Groevenbeekse heide and in the Ruigeveld woods, two beautiful nature reserves around Ermelo.

Creative experiment
December 2025

I experimented with the 'Pep Ventosa' technique. The principle works as follows: you photograph an object from all sides and then overlay the photos. This way, you see the object from all angles in a single photo. This creates a particularly beautiful, painterly effect.
I composed the following two photos from 24 photos I took of one of the characteristic trees on the Beekhuizerzand near Harderwijk. Combined into single photos using Photoshop.
I converted the first photo to black and white using a low-contrast monochromatic treatment in Photoshop. And the second photo using the Reala Ace film simulation in my camera and a surreal color treatment in Photoshop.

18 fantastic days in Nepal
October 2025

In October 2025 I made a beautiful 18 days phototour to Nepal.
Led by our excellent photographer and tour guide Chi Hong and together with my wife Michelle and eight photo friends we visited a lot of places: Kathmandu, Kirtipur, Bhaktapur, Changunarayan, Nagarkot, Patan (Lalitpur), Bandipur, Ramkot, Pokhara, Sarangkot and Sauraha (Chitwan National Park).
More than two wonderful weeks completely focused on photography (and traditional Nepalese food)!

Exhibition in St. Jansdal
October - December 2025

Exhibition of 10 of my favorite landscape photographs in St. Jansdal Hospital in Harderwijk! You can find them on the first floor in the hallway leading to rooms 1.44 to 1.49 (outpatient clinics).

Recently sold photo
September 2025

I photographed this scenery in August 2017 in the Landschaftspark in Duisburg.
The photo has been given a nice place on the wall in size 105 x 60cm and printed on aluminum dibond.
This work has now been sold 3 times!

Blood Moon
September 2025

I took a picture of the blood moon. I chose a composition with the Molenbrug bridge over the IJssel River in Kampen. This photo was taken at 9:03 PM. The total lunar eclipse occurred earlier, but unfortunately, I couldn't capture it due to the cloud cover. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with the result!

Beautiful structures on the mudflats near Ternaard in the afternoon in the Wadden Sea. Just hard and stable enough to walk on. And beautiful structures near Koehool in the evening with a beautiful sunset.

Fantastic evening at Engelsmanplaat in the Wadden Sea. With nice clouds and a beautiful sunset.
Engelsmanplaat is a sandbank located between Ameland and Schiermonnikoog, approximately five kilometers from the Frisian coast. The sandbank has an area of less than one square kilometer and is almost completely submerged at high tide. On Engelsmanplaat you will find the Kalkman (lookout tower) and a beautiful beacon.
The Wadden Sea has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009.

Cormorant fisherman in a triptych

I have put together a new triptych of my photos that I took in 2024 of the cormorant fisherman in Yangshuo (China). In terms of atmosphere and light they fit together perfectly. Very beautiful in large format on aluminum dibond on the wall!

Beautiful architecture in Rotterdam
May 2025

Two beautiful and completely different buildings in Rotterdam: the Sonneveld House and the STC building.
The Sonneveld House was built in 1933. It is one of the best preserved examples of the Nieuwe Bouwen in the Netherlands, an architectural movement closely related to functionalism and modernism. The house is now a museum and part of Het Nieuwe Instituut. Architect Leendert van der Vlugt. The client was Albertus Sonneveld, a director at the Van Nelle Factory.
The STC building in Rotterdam is the main building of the STC Group (Shipping and Transport College Group), an international educational institution specializing in maritime transport, logistics and port industry. The building was built in 2005 and is located at Lloydstraat 300 in the Lloydkwartier, a former port area that has been transformed into a modern city district.
The building was designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architects. The design is striking and symbolizes the maritime identity of the STC Group. The structure consists of stacked volumes that are reminiscent of stacked sea containers, which refers to shipping and logistics. The building is an architectural icon in the Rotterdam skyline.

Autumn in the Saxon Switserland (Sächsische Schweiz)

Enjoyed a beautiful autumn weekend in the Saxon Switzerland with three photography friends. The Saxon Switzerland is located on the border between Germany and the Czech Republic. And it is known for the dramatic Elbe Sandstone Mountains that stretch out over the border.
I photographed the autumn landscape, the Bastei Bridge in Germany and the Pravčická Brána in the Czech Republic.
